Installations

Medica Pacifica is proud to announce the successful supply, installation, commissioning, and user training of the VITEK® MS PRIME MALDI-TOF Microbial Identification System at the Fiji Centre for Disease Control (CDC).

The installation marks a significant milestone in strengthening Fiji's laboratory diagnostic capabilities, providing healthcare professionals with access to world-class microbial identification technology.

Using advanced MALDI-TOF (Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization–Time of Flight) mass spectrometry, the VITEK® MS PRIME delivers rapid, accurate, species-level identification of bacteria, yeasts, and other microorganisms, enabling faster clinical decision-making and enhanced disease surveillance.

As part of the project, Medica Pacifica's team completed the installation, commissioning, and comprehensive onsite training to ensure laboratory personnel are fully equipped to operate the system with confidence.

This investment represents an important step in enhancing public health resilience, supporting antimicrobial resistance (AMR) initiatives, and strengthening infectious disease monitoring throughout Fiji and the wider Pacific region.

Successfully installed and operational, the bioMérieux VITEK® MS PRIME strengthens microbiology diagnostic capabilities by providing rapid, reliable microorganism identification, helping healthcare professionals make informed treatment decisions faster.
